Insurance companies dominated the debate about the rising cost of motor insurance, ICG helped the Credit Hire Organisation get its voice heard.

ICG developed a political engagement programme targeting those with relevant policy responsibilities and interests, taking the opportunity also to draw on the geographical diversity of the trade body’s membership.

An integrated media campaign was also developed, activity ranged from enhancing and optimising website content and structure right up through to crisis communications following the launch of an Office of Fair Trading investigation into motor insurance and the subsequent referral of the market to the Competition Commission.

The CHO met with target MPs, a number on multiple occasions, ensuring that insurers no longer enjoyed their previous status as the sole source of information in the motor insurance debate. In addition to securing considerable coverage in digital, print and broadcast nationally, a social media presence was created for the CHO and valuable relationships built with journalists within the insurance industry’s trade press.  The Competition & Markets Authority ultimately found in favour of the credit hire industry in September 2014.
